The History of Rabbit Photo

RABBIT PHOTO is Australia's largest single branded chain of retail on-site photo-finishing laboratories and specialises in the production and marketing of photofinishing products and a comprehensive range of related goods and services to the amateur photographer.

Rabbit Photo was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1985 after which it embarked on a program of expansion by way of both organic growth and acquisition. This strategy led to the merging of the growing Foto Island and Rabbit Photo businesses in 1988/89.

Rabbit Photo Holdings Ltd remained a public company until 1995 at which time its major shareholder Hanimex (part of the Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd) made a successful takeover offer for the remaining shares it did not already own.

The ensuing years saw a striking improvement in profitability and growth in both store numbers and the quality of the store portfolio. Carefully planned acquisitions and selective store openings together with the extension of the product range to include, in particular, a wide range of frames and albums.

Rabbit Photo is dedicated to providing its customers with superior quality photofinishing and digital services together with an exciting range of quality merchandise. With our commitment to meeting the challenges of the constantly evolving digital market Rabbit Photo continues to substantially invest in both equipment and training of personnel for the provision of superior digital services.
